Social Prescribing project begins for the second year in Nelson, Lancashire

A little sneak peak at what we’ve been up to in Nelson… we’ve been working with three primary schools and two care homes to write new pieces of music about bridging the generation gaps, celebrating our diversity and childhood memories.

Trawden Forest Community Primary School have created a piece that tells us all the things they like, how we’ve got different hobbies or backgrounds but it’s okay because we’re all who we want to be. There’s dancing, pizza and a bearded dragon… whilst Marsden Primary and Holy Saviour Primary have starting writing a hello song, in five different languages!

From January to May, these schools and care homes are creating new pieces of music for a sharing performance on 23rd May. We’ve been hearing all about gastar (tarmac) and the cobbled streets of Nelson, and we look forward to sharing more of the participant’s ideas in a series of musical pieces in a few months.

Thanks to the Little Marsden Parish Centre and East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group for supporting this project.
