• Social Prescribing project begins for the second year in Nelson, Lancashire

    A little sneak peak at what we’ve been up to in Nelson… we've been working with three primary schools and two care homes to write new pieces of music about bridging the generation gaps, celebrating our diversity and childhood memories. Trawden Forest Community Primary School have created a piece that tells us all the things they like, how we’ve got different hobbies or backgrounds but it’s okay because we’re all who we want to be.   • First Notes project begins with music sessions at 22 Manchester primary schools

    Throughout February and March 2019, Manchester Camerata musicians are working alongside 22 primary schools to compose a song cycle of original music, culminating in a performance of the piece at the Royal Northern College of Music in April 2019. In partnership with Manchester Music Education Hub, each school is working on a song that draws inspiration from the story of The Lorax by Dr Seuss, an existing environment-based children’s story chosen by teachers to help portray humankind's impact on the environment.   • Cumbria Calling 3: project launch

    In early January 2019 we returned to Cumbria for the third year of our Cumbria Calling project, in collaboration with Cumbria Music Hub and Orchestras Live. The project began with introductory sessions at high schools in Whitehaven and the surrounding areas. The whole project runs until July 2019 and will bring together young people from all over West Cumbria to compose a new piece of music which will be performed in a series of concerts in July.
