    What a better way to end our recent Cumbria Calling project than to perform our new composition to over 800 people! Over two days of performances with both the Cumbria Youth Orchestra and a 13 piece ensemble from Manchester Camerata, the Cumbria Young Composers performed and presented concerts of the world premiere of ‘A Spirit of Adventure’; their new composition all about the story of a young boy in the 1700’s who sneaks on board a cargo ship and travels from Whitehaven to the Caribbean and beyond.   • Pupils and teachers from Manchester primary schools celebrate year one of ‘City of Songs’ project

    Over the past year, musicians from Manchester Camerata have been working with four Manchester primary schools in a project funed by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation which aims to embed songwriting across the curriculum. Two class teachers from Webster, Claremont, St Margaret’s C of E and St Mary’s C of E Primary Schools have been working with Manchester Camerata to learn all about songwriting in the classroom… and what a lot of learning they’ve done!   • A weekend of composing with young producers from across Cumbria

    Another great weekend in Cumbria with our young composers! We're in year three of the Cumbria Calling project and every year the group take part in a residential. In February we gathered at the Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven for two days of workshops. We spent the weekend working on ideas for a new piece of music which will be performed by a Camerata ensemble in a schools concert this July.
